TOP WELSH CHEFS SHOWCASING THEIR SKILLS & WELSH FOOD IN THE MID WALES AUTUMN FAYRE’S LIVE KITCHEN THEATRE

The Culinary Association of Wales (CAW) have partnered with the Mid Wales Autumn Fayre to host a weekend of butchery and chef demonstrations, highlighting the wide range of artisan Welsh food ingredients, sourced from across the country.

Both the National Chef of Wales, Joshua Morris and Junior Chef of Wales, Sam Everton will be showcasing their skills and expertise in the Culinary Association of Wales’ live kitchen theatre, Joshua on Sunday 6th October and Sam on Saturday 5th October.

Joshua and Sam won their prestigious titles when they competed at the Culinary Association of Wales’ Welsh International Culinary Championships 2024 (WICC).

28-year-old Joshua Morris, was senior sous chef at Palé Hall Hotel, Llandderfel, Bala when he competed with his commis chef and colleague Robin Evans, pastry chef at Palé Hall, to win the National Chef of Wales 2024 title.

Joshua Morris has now moved to Tyddyn Llan Restaurant as second in command to Head Chef, Gareth Stevenson.

Sam Everton, 25, is a lecturer at Coleg Ceredigion and part- time junior sous chef at Y Seler, Aberaeron.

He beat seven young Welsh chefs to become the Junior Chef of Wales.

His commis chef was one of his students, Tyler Richardson from Y Seler, who had previously competed for Wales and the UK in WorldSkills competitions around the world.

The WICC takes place annually every January, and this year was held for the first time in the International Conference Centre Wales (ICC Wales) in Newport. WICC 2025 will again take place at ICC Wales on the 20th – 22nd January, even bigger and better than before in a three day hospitality hub, as Wales prepares to host for the first time in the UK, Worldchefs & Expo 2026 - the culinary equivalent to the Fifa World Cup.

A CAW delegation will be travelling to Worldchefs & Expo 2024 in Singapore in late October for the handover of the Worldchefs congress bell to their CAW President, Arwyn Watkins OBE. This will mark the official launch of Wales being the next hosts of this prestigious international event that will be attended by the top chefs from across the world.

Danny Burke, the only chef to win the Junior Chef of Wales and National Chef of Wales in consecutive years will also be demonstrating in Mid Wales Autumn Fayre’s live kitchen theatre on Saturday 5th October.
